Diablo 3 build $300-$500 help - Page 5

There will be no performance difference between the 2 boards. H61 is a basic chipset with not many features. I would not pay $60 for the MSI though. If it is on clearance though, that is another matter. Not worth rushing though and paying triple the price.
It's so little!

I would invest in a slightly better processor, as you never know where Blizzard will take Diablo 3 with expansions and patches. It may better(and require) utilize more threads down the line or for other games you may want to play.

Maybe bump the 387.59 system you just posted up with a i3 2100 or an athlon II x3/4. You can LEGALLY download Windows 7 Installations discs from Digitial River links easily searchable and run Windows in Trial mode for up to 3 month(again completely legal) which should give you ample time to buy a copy of your own and save you a hundred to put towards your system.

The Pentium G850 will perform almost identical to an i3-2100 in games. His CPU will be fine. Especially for his GPU.

Okay well this is the build i'm going with

CPU: Intel Pentium G630 2.7GHz Dual-Core Processor ($68.99 @ Mac Mall)
Motherboard: MSI H61M-P21 (B3) Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($50.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Samsung 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($24.99 @ Microcenter)
Hard Drive: Hitachi Deskstar 320GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($47.66 @ Compuvest)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 6870 2GB Video Card ($179.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($39.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: Corsair 500W ATX12V Power Supply ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($17.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $470.59

But the case has to go it's hideous.. Anything i can replace it with while keeping all the same parts and will fit?

And also one more thing, I was reading the description for the ASUS optical drive, and since i will have windows 7 64bit running i didn't see it listed on there as compatible. Or would it be working with Windows NT?

Newer games are using more threads, limiting yourself to a 2core/2thread CPU is not something I would recommend, even just for games and even for a budget build. (Not to mention, Windows7 is designed for Hyperthreading)

In tribes, pure duals performed poorly compared to an i3.
I know the Intel has better architecture and I'm not trying to argue against the little Pentium, just sayin though.

sad-smiley-002.gif ....Okay Well the only game i will be playing is Diablo III

So if you had to build the best Gaming style PC for UNDER $500 - $550 at the most what would you build...

Just curious...

And again this will be my second build in the last 10 years, But this is my first gaming Style rig..

My knowledge is out of date on this newer stuff..

... Man oh man this thread is out of control with all these builds to select from... lol

I just want the best bang for my buck and i want this to be an enjoyable experience..
