I absolutely love Diablo 3, I think the story was amazing and the gameplay was a ton of fun. Now I'm closing in on level 60 (54) and almost to Inferno mode, once thats beat then what? So I could see its longevity running dry, but the first playthrough is well worth it IMO. Plus blizzard is good at updates to its games. I know at least pvp is coming, not sure what else they will change.

Diablo 3 is a must buy but I would buy Torchlight 2 & wait until the price drops or wait for a sale price for Diablo 3. $60 for a PC game? I've never spent over $30 & I do not plan to spend over $30 but that's me upsidedwnsmiley.gif

I could see that if you were not really into Diablo. $60 is steep if your only going to play through it a couple times (say 14+10+8 hours) 32 hours of gameplay maybe? Thats if you take your time on the first run. I beat it in about 12 because I want to get to Inferno.

I guess I have been taking my time with D3. I think my game time is somewhere around 42 hours. I am level 44 Monk who just finished Act II boss on nightmare. redface.gif I have a feeling that this game will have very near 200 hours played by the time I am done with it. I want to finish my Witch Doctor as well. For that amount of play time, $60 is justifiable to me, since my longest pc game play time aside from that is Skyrim with about 80 hours or so.

Don't get it twisted my friend...I'm a Diablo fan at heart (doesn't mean I have to spend $60 for it). I still play the earlier Diablo games periodically. My motto is why spend more if I can spend less. I've probably exaggerated a bit but every now & then, I'll drop $45 for a game but for the most part, I try to not to spend over $30 (before tax wink.gif ). Diablo 3 will be waiting for me.
Either I have a ton of patience or an extensive game library (actually it's both) biggrin.gif

I find it odd that Blizzard uses the first 20 levels in the starter. Everything in normal mode is actually quite dull. From my experience D3 gets exciting once you beat the game on normal. D3 starter would be more convincing if they gave you a few days using a pre-leveled character IMO since Normal is like one giant tutorial for the game :/ Still. TL2 v D3 is more about how your internet is where you are and how much moolah you have. got D3 and I may get TL2 when I get the funds. Otherwise you can't really go wrong with these two since they're pretty solid (Had a ball with TL1 so no doubt TL2 will be at least as fun)

in the end just play what you like.

there are some obvious trolls who just spout nonsense they've read elsewhere, but if you go look at the diablo III thread you'll find that plenty of people are enjoying the game.

i didn't like WoW because it was too cartooney for my taste, that's also why i couldn't stick with torchlight and never bought Kingdoms of Amalur or whatever that game was.

but calling diablo III cartooney is just false. go look at actual screenshots from the game if you're not going to play it.

i get that people don't like it for whatever reasons, and there are valid reasons, but this tired rhetoric that people who don't play it keep spouting is just that, tired rhetoric and trying to get other people on the bandwagon with you means they could miss out on a good game.

as for that chart:

no offline play. we all know that and was said a long time ago, no surpirse.

stable servers. on a game that isn't released yet? nice troll.

more than 11 hours of gameplay. again on a game that isn't released yet, not to mention diablo has a lot more than 11 hours. your game content is not represented by speed runs. troll.

five people at once. woohoo, good for you. if this is make or break then there's plenty of other games.

LAN. same as above. if it's make or break, then oh well.

pets. diablo has followers, and pets is the whole WoW shtick that makes it more cartooney.

mods. same as lan and 5 people, if you need it look elsewhere.

classes that have more than one playstyle. this is a perfect example of an obvious troll again. the rune/skill system is a lot deeper than people who only played the beta know, but they don't care to educate themselves on it because they're too busy trolling.

character customization. you can dye your armor in diablo. if you need full control of how your char looks, look elsewhere.

in development for 10 years. hey look it's this old troll line. if the time between a game and it's sequel is important to you, look elsewhere.

error 37. again, assuming a non-released game is going to have a flawless start. pure troll.

auction house rumbling. real money auction house hasn't even been launched and already it's ruined the game? troll, troll troll.

price. a AAA game vs. a game that you should be able to run on your browser. diablo's price doesn't offend me, that's what new big titles go for. i get that steam has made everyone think that if you wait a month you can get a game for half price, but blizzard isn't like that. torchlight wouldn't sell at $60 so they have to lowball.

again, play what you like, but don't write a game off because a bunch of internet people are raging about it without actually trying it.

Now this, out of that entire explanation from that guy above me, is the best reason to buy a game thumb.gif
