Urgent problem and advise (tech help)? - Page 4

I have 970 Chipset, ASUS M5A97 PRO. So that rules out the other 970 boards.

Also the asrock extreme 3 has 4+1 VRMs, which is terrible for overclocking. My current board cost 85 pounds, the MSI 990XA-GD55 also costs 85 pounds, but with 8+2 VRMs and the 990X chipset.

Also I have FX-6100, not Athlon tongue.gif

The quality of the components is far more important than if it's 4+1 or 8+2. But that's regardless. The one you listed will work for you I was just giving you some other options.

Thanks for the other suggestions smile.gif but a quality 4+1 will not be able to keep up with the current demand regardless of how good it is. A 8+2 power phase will be able to provide a more stable current, also heat is a killer, and overclocking with a 4+1 power phase will produce a lot of stress on the VRMs tongue.gif

I am only going for the MSI because of the phase, the chipset and because its the same price.

The Asrock Extreme4 or 990FX is a good choice, but unfortunately it is over £100+ over here frown.gif otherwise I would get it.

True. Make sure to post your overclock results once you get the new board set up. thumb.gif

Edit - forgot you're from the UK...prices are a bit different there.

Once I get it sorted out from Scan (replacement, current board playing up.. it doesn't like RAM any more frown.gif

Yeah prices are quite different over here.. at least I will be able to finally get my multiplier over 20 and do some real overclocking thumb.gif
