Edit: Here is a first look, and there is also by the looks of it a new fortress case.

Nuuuuu!!! Why 180'? That looks horrible! 90' was perfect because of the un-obstructed airflow. So I guess it's either an FT02 with no room for long GPUs if watercooling, or a Switch 810, which negates the awesome looking EK waterblocks because you won't even be able to see the coolant flow through them! frown.gif

Pretty disappointed in those 2 cases myself.

I guess what I'll have to do is get 670s (really, really short) and run push-pull with upgraded ap 182s in an FT02

180 is preferable to 90 degree for a lot of people. For one, you can now use non reference GPU's without taking a huge hit in temps. On top of that, it keeps the CPU relatively free of non-reference GPU heat, since it's not exhausted out the back of the case. For me, the 90 degree layout, while neat, totally killed the case as an option.

The other thing is that it allows that totally sweet GPU block to be shown off in all of its glory.

the more I look at it the more I like it. I'm thinking maybe a fun water cooling case, not that I've ever water cooled but it might be fun.

Eh?

90 degree rotation allows a perfectly straight shot over the components from bottom to top. There's zero sharing of fresh air all the way through the case, regardless of which cooler the GPU uses. This isn't possible or near as straight forward with traditional cases because this would require the direct front of the case being all intake fans, which we know can't happen because that's where disk drives, card readers, etc. have to go. Rotating everything solves that problem.

Cards that use heatpipe designs have much higher temps when rotated 90 degrees. No one knows the exact reason, but the best guess with testing so far seems to point to the fact that the heat has a hard time expanding over the long sections of the heatpipes, and instead gets caught in the rear portion which is much shorter. It even says in the FT02/FT03/RV02 FAQ/manual to not use non-reference cards in the cases.
