if you want good temps, upgrade room and a quiet system a 240mm rad would be the way to go
a thick 120mm would work tho

After some basic research it looks like a well functioning setup would be in the 350-400$ region?

Not necessarily, at $350-400 you can actually get a full custom loop done with a CPU and 1 or 2 GPU blocks.

I suggest getting one of the XSPC kits and just adding a GPU full cover (if you have a reference GPU) or a universal GPU block into the loop, it shouldn't cost you more than $170-250

$220 total and gram some 12mm or 13mm tubing form the local hardware shop
all set up for sub $250 and that's in Australia don't no how much cheaper u guys get it but its less than auss for sure
ad u will be able to add the cpu later for $80 and maybe another rad if u felt liek it,
the system is expandable and ready to roll thumb.gif
