Dumb mistake but many people still forget about it so I try to tell everyone who is building not to forget! smile.gif

Luckily, his motherboard is on acrylic, so no shorting issues. This is not to say he shouldn't still use the stand-offs. smile.gif

If you can't reach MM by phone, try email. It's asynchronous communication, works better when the people you are trying to reach are busy doing things.

I think the 5.25 bay issues can be resolved by adjusting what goes where. Maybe put the res on the bottom and the controller on top. Also, unless those black screws are the ones that came with your controller, I think you're using the wrong screws. Your other screws look a bit odd and unmatching as well, so you might have gotten them mixed up.
It's not the end of the world, but just be sure if something needs a certain type of screw only, that you didn't already use it.
Here's a simple image with the basic screws used in cases:
600
A: Standard case side panel screws. Also sometimes used to mount the PSUs
B: Motherboard stand-offs. These go on whatever surface you are attaching your motherboard to.
C: Used in the PCIe brackets(to hold GPUs and other PCIe devices in), and also sometimes used for PSUs.
D: Standard bay device screws. Used for optical drives, fan controllers, and even the same size for HDDs and SSDs.

There's definitely a likelihood that I made a mistake with screws. We are all human after all... however, I was very careful with how I organized the screws that I removed from the case itself when disassembling it for component installation, and with the screws that came with components and the case. Furthermore, I spoke with MM when I received my case to make sure that I got everything and according to the guy I spoke with... I had everything.

The screws that went into the controller came with it in the box. What makes you think I used the wrong screws? I value your opinion, and you might be right.

You made an accurate observation with regards to mismatching screws. The case did not come with a substantial amount of screws, and I was forced to purchase screws on my own to mount things. This has been a very frustrating experience as I spent a lot of time running back and forth from the hardware store to get the appropriate screws.

How important are the screws with respect to my problem at hand? If it's unrelated that's alright, but I'm just curious. Just due to my perfectionist tendencies, I would like to fix all the screws. I'm going to take a fresh look at this in the morning after I rest up. I'm tired after this disappointing first day -- I'll post more updates about my experiences later on.

Thanks for the warning. Once i get to it, I'll make sure to do so and if I can't figure out how I'll post here for help. I have not started thinking about the motherboard mounting due to case problems.

Great to know, but I will still use the stand-offs since that's the right way to do it. smile.gif

Good idea. I just sent an email. I am exhausted troubleshooting this case all day so I'm going to bed right now. I'll tinker with it tomorrow, but my final decision in regards with this case hinges on MM's response.

He's not using an internal optical. The only things going in his bays are the fan controller, and a dual bay res.

unfortunetly though thats how it mounts so without an optical drive you would have to come up with a way to mount it on your own.

This how i ended up having to do my dual bay res and fan controller because of that (i wanted an optical drive)

As you all recall, I emailed Mountain Mods yesterday (I also linked them to the build log, so they can see what's going on). I got a quick response this morning. They are willing to work with me. I will be receiving another acrylic piece that will be used to secure the 5.25 drives to the case, since the case (as it is) was designed to be mounted by an optical drive. I will post all this information into the build log itself once I get all the pictures, and the build together. But, until then... if you are interested in the H2gO, just bear in mind that you need an optical drive to mount the 5.25 bays properly. Otherwise, MM can offer you an acrylic "thing" so you can secure your devices to it. They state that they will charge $20 for it, but due to what I went through... it's going to be free.

I also inquired about modding it. I'm thinking about making a secure shelf for the 5.25 bays, so that I can add water to the res without opening the case up, and then after I finish adding water I can securely put it back in place. Perhaps, this mechanism might work with a button or something to unlock it from it's place? It's just an idea that came to mind. I might not go through with it now, but I'm interested in doing that at some point. I asked Ben at MM for his insight behind that idea as well.

In summary: I'm getting an acrylic part that will enable me to securely mount the 5.25 drives. I hope that also resolves the weird spacing issue too. My build is also going to suspended until I receive that part. I don't think I can proceed without it.

@Blindsay: If I leave my 5.25 drive unsecured would it be easy to secure it with the new plexiglass when I have a secured water loop running with components installed?

not sure, id have to see what exactly they are sending you, first time ive heard of another way to mount in the 5.25 bay.

As far filling it, you can see in my above picture how i did it haha. Glad they were able to help you out though
