[GameStatistics] Crysis 2 Back on Steam - Page 4

But In what way(s) is Steam intrusive?

When you cannot launch a game you paid full price for without first launching another app in the background that you will not use. There is no option. You use it or you don't play. Yet there was nothing telling me this when I bought it.

If this is to be considered "non-intrusive" then I'd be scared to see what is.

If Crysis 2 is back on steam does that mean i can use my previous cd key to add in Steam? I have the box version. Apparently it won't work on Steam. Believe me i tried. Maybe Origin yes but i can't cuz i have Origin on my SSD and only BF3. I use another HD just to play the other games. I only have a 80gb space in my SSD anyways. I need the space anyhow.

Still it sucks i can't enter my keys i have on my box versions to Steam unfortunately.

if bf3 released on steam, i'd finally upgrade and get it... or, if it released in any fashion that didn't require origin in order to play.

What game(s) are you talking about?

And what of all the other sorts of DRM? Punkbuster? All the archaic other ones that install along with most other games released in the last 5-7 years?

Does Crysis 2 Maximum Edition still have Tages Solidshield 5 machine activation DRM?

Too little, too late. I've already lost all respect for crytek and ea...

Don't you see? EA/Crytek are done with Crysis 2 DLC so they bundled it as a Maximum Edition and put it back on steam for more $$$$

Smart business move imo

rolleyes.giftongue.gif

The day BF3, ME3, DA2, and future EA titles release on STEAM is when we should be happy.

Those other forms are worse. That said, there is no good DRM, not one. Steam is not an exception like many seem to feel. Mnay games, do I need to list? We all know you have to launch steam to play SP games...

That's just anti-steam FUD. Some games you can launch without the steam launcher, and some you can - it's entirely up the the publisher. This has been discussed ad-nausem on the steam forums even with input from game developers. The steam store and the steamworks DRM leaves the majority of decisions up the the developer - that's hardly intrusive by design. Actually more that's robust and flexible than anything else...
