Asus Sabertooth 990FX - New BIOS Just Released - Version: 1208

This BIOS was just released and addresses the following issues:

1. Improve Improve system stability.
2. Enhance compatibility with some USB devices.

Not much to go on, however, if your experiencing issues with specific USB compatibility, this may help.

The following URL should take you direct to the download page.

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=SABERTOOTH%20990FX&p=1&s=24&os=30&hashedid=H9GanpgqHG8yN8yQ

NOTE: I have found that the easiest way to update the board with this BIOS (as well as any others for this motherboard), is to simply unpack the file and copy/place the .ROM file to any of your attached hard drives and/or partitions. Simply enter the CMOS/BIOS upon start-up and use the included BIOS updater utility.....just select the drive/partition from the drop down list of locations and update away. The USB key/thumb drive of course will do the trick as well....just make sure it's inserted BEFORE your turn on the machine versus plugging it in from within the BIOS screen already.

Hi

Have you experienced any problems at all or are you flying AOK with it. No problems on this end with this update or any of the others.

If ya do run into any snags or anything , please post so I can report back to ASUS.

Tnx

No issues I have noticed. Then again, no experience with this board without this BIOS. Running CPU@4.0 with no voltage bump, and RAM @ 1866

I wrote technical inquiry to asus. They should update raid option rom.

Would be nice when more of the sabertooth 990fx owners will do this too.

Bios 1208 no issues so far.

I contacted them in the past - they pretty much just blew me off. Fortunately there is a modded BIOS available here at overclockers with the modified raid rom.

I recently (Monday the 16th) got around to upgrading from 1102 to 1208. All looked good until early in in the morning on the 17th when it died. I was unable to POST; the P/S came up briefly and then shut down. My chip is a AMD Phenom II X6 1055T slightly oc'd to @ 3.4, RAM is OCZ 8GB/1600, and the video is 2 each XFX 5850's in CrossFire. Also, using a pair of 600 GB Velociraptor's in a non-RAID setup.

I let it sit overnight (pissed) and the board fired right up this morning. I put everything back together and seemed to be running okay. I made a few inconsequential tweaks in the BIOS and it died again - no POST. BTW, I previously ran the AMD Overdrive tests and everything checked good, temps were right on and the CPU reliability check was good. So, long story short, I reset the BIOS and booted into W7 Premium 64-bit and commenced to download and reinstall 1102. It has now been several hours and everything appears to normal. I not saying that 1208 has any problems, but this rig has been up and running in its same configuration since last year - nothing has ever been out of place. So, I'd sure like to hear from anyone out there that might have or suspect they have a problem with 1208. mad.gif
