I would be looking to run just one card at the moment, and I have my sights set on the 670.

Anything change in your recommendations? I'm looking to run a single 670 for the next few months, with the possibility of another card (or a more powerful single) sometime then. But for the foreseeable future it's just the one card.

You sound like you want a great build and you want it to last. I will not tell you to go 1200W. But I wanted the best when it came to a peace of mind. I have a Platinum 860W. Good Amps. and cost effective. Not to mention future proof. Dude, if you are going to spend on a build, the most important, period, is your power. Don't screw that off as it means life and death of your build. If you are going to spend BIG on something, let it be a PSU. A PSU can make your build last or it could kill all.
I agree completely, but if my current PSU does the job, I'd rather wait a few months down the line.

More watts does not mean more quality nor does it mean that it will last longer and it is certainly not cost effective when something so powerful is never needed in the first place. For the OP, a good 550 watt PSU should be fine for what you're planning as Phaedrus and Sin mentioned above.

Consider the Tx650v2, Tx650M, Capstone 650-M. The AX650 is $135 after promo, $120 after MIR.

Let me add some FSP love, FSP Aurum Gold 650w $115 shipped. $105 after MIR.
