I'm looking at getting a ASRock 970 Extreme4 Motherboard for my birthday but will a pile driver cpu work in this motherboard because I would like one?

All in all great cooler for the money and has always worked reliably. Excellent for a backup cooling system or for low-cost budget computers, while still being able to overclock.

Yes it will.

Quote:
Piledriver will use the exact same platform as Bulldozer, I.e. chipsets of the 9 series and Socket AM3+. Southbridge and northbridge will thus bring no real news, but the same functions as seen with current AM3+ motherboards. Those who have bought an AM3+ motherboard in advance, can be happy to know that Piledriver should work if the manufacturer releases a BIOS update to support the new processor.

well all you can say is "should" untill the chip hits the market but the piledriver chips that are being tested are on a 9xx AM3+ board
