I'm looking to change up my cooling configuration and am going to order some of the new corsair 120mm fans, I not only like the look of them I like the performance stats as well, let's hope they have the same build quality as the rest of their products.

probably already posted, but this is how it works:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_noise_control

"Sound is a P-wave, which consists of a compression phase and a rarefaction phase. A noise-cancellation speaker emits a sound wave with the same amplitude but with inverted phase (also known as antiphase) to the original sound. The waves combine to form a new wave, in a process called interference, and effectively cancel each other out - an effect which is called phase cancellation."

I have 5 silenx effizio 120mm blue led fans running at 100% all the time and I can just barely hear them. Easily phase out though, especially with my Sony MDR-ZX700's. Noiseless fans would be nice, but definitely not required because the gpu is still gonna make some fan noise.

Yeah it's fantastic science. Someone also used it recently in a helicopter with dual rotor blades to silence it.

Maybe they will use the technology that fighter helicopters use to silence their blades...

Noctua's don't need to change their color scheme. Their core buyer are power users valuing silence. If you care about silence, and are willing to pay for it, your computer will be full of sound-dampening material and you won't have a case window. Silent users also tend to prefer negative pressure cooling to keep the noise levels down.

I like noctua's build quality but I do find their noise claims to be hit and miss. My F12 has a slight motor noise that is slightly annoying given that I replaced the Blademaster that came with my 212+ with them (which were pretty silent at low speeds). My P14 also has a slight motor whine when I undervolt them. But they are pretty quiet and until I can find something better (trying out the TY-140 and noiseblockers in a bit), they're the best I can do.
