Please help me decide which MB to get for my new setup.

Hello all,

I am searching for new MB for my new setup.

I will be getting Intel i7 3930K CPU, so i need decent MB for this CPU and other parts i have.

Right now i am not going to be doing Crossfire, i have single Sapphire 7970 OC (maybe in 1-3 months i will get 2nd one)

I have H100 for CPU cooling and i have Corsair HX1050 (I know lots of ppl will say this is overkill, but, i had this on deal i couldn't refuse thumb.gif , so please do not comment how i don't need this) biggrin.gif

I was looking at:

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_707&item_id=044443

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_707&item_id=045119

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_707&item_id=043006

Gene would be the best option for me ($) but if its not recommended, then i will spend more, of course.

What would you suggest (why).

Please note that i am in Canada, so if it cant be canadacomputers, i need to buy it from newegg.ca, we dont have all stuff that US ppl have available redface.gif

Thank you!

Out of those, the formula would be the best, just for extra features, and the GPU flexibility that a full sized ATX board brings you. It's what I would go for, although if you really wanna go get the best, and you have the funds, buy the Rampage IV Extreme. It's considered the ultimate x79 board, and from what I have heard, it is simply amazing biggrin.gif

Thanks for reply.

Yes, RAMPAGE is the best from what i listed, no doubt, its over my budget, so, i was thinking Formula as well.

So, there is much difference between Formula and Gene?

Thanks a lot again!

Not too much, just that the Formula is full ATX size, with the Gene being Micro ATX. I think the Fomula has water cooling holes for the vrm heatsinks if I'm not mistaken...

Thank you.

So, in your opinion its worth the price difference?

Gene is $289 + tax
Formula is $ 374 +tax

I think i am gonna do comparison from asus website, to see what the real difference is.

Thanks thumb.gif

Yeah, I would go for the formula. There's probably more vrms/power phases on that board as well, to help with higher OCs.

Go for it thumb.gif
