the good news isn't that there is ram out that hits 3GHz, no the good news is that the technology is advancing. This will push AMD/INTEL to work to utilize it! Sure we cant take advantage of it now, but if no one took the first step them we would never advance.

More realistically, your car is rated for speeds that you could not possibly dream to go, its competitors go the same speeds that you can actually hit for a much cheaper price, and no one will ever see your car after the day you buy it.

It kinda drives me crazy when manufacturers release things claiming speeds that you cannot hit under any reasonable circumstances. It would be like releasing a 7970 that is capable of 1700 core on LN2 and selling it as a 1.7GHz edition. Granted, I would buy that for LN2 usage as it means I don't have to bin myself. It would be inconsequential on air or water cooling though.

i agree on no IMC can do it under standard conditions--but people buy fancy cars because they have made it in life so they want to tell the world that they have made it. thats why exotic cars are so popular. even though you cant drive them fast on roads, it is still nice to have that kind of a car instead of a civic. those same people also can afford to go to track days every weekend so thats where they do all the speed racing.

I want the ram. And your right. The point is the pursuit of performance. PC's are my hobby and I will always want the srx build with 1,000,000 gb of ram.

I see this ram a nice way to overclock the 3960x as well. Since the ram can keep going up there, you can have more freedom with the base clock and according ratios.
