Asus Gtx 670 Dc2 vs Asus Gtx 670 Dc2T

Hi guys,

I am interesting in buying a Asus Gtx 670 but I saw that there are 2 different models and one of them, the Asus Gtx 670 Dc2T, is already overclocked when you buy it. Now I was wondering if I can spare these few bucks an buy the non-overclocked model and overclock it myself or if it is impossible to do this with the Asus Gtx 670 Dc2?

The motherboard I am willing to use is a Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H smile.gif

Thanks in advance smile.gif

Here is a small difference in hat the top cards are a higher bin aswell. They tend to of a little better
post #7 of 11
The TOP version is binned to make sure that the card can be factory overclocked to its advertised speeds so the chips on the TOP version are most likely better overclockers. However, the non TOP versions can be overclocked but it could be hit or miss. Some cards will be able to overclock easily past the TOP version speeds while some won't even make it to that point.

I'd just pay the extra money and get the TOP version (it's what I went for) since it's a safer bet.

what do you mean by "binned" ?

Binned is just a term used that means there were specifically selected and tested.
Chips that were able to hit the advertised clock speeds of the TOP version were branded as TOP cards.
Ones that did not successfully hit this speed were not selected to be the TOP cards.
So basically if you get a non TOP card it will probably hit TOP speeds, but there is no such guarantee.
Therefore the non TOP cards have a higher chance of poorer overclockers just by the virtue that the GPUs unable to hit TOP speeds are designated as these cards.
But on the flip side, even the TOP cards are only guaranteed to hit these designated clocks and there is no such guarantee they will clock any higher.
