I can come up with dozens more but that should get you started. Figured that we'd go with a 9xx series motherboard (to be determined later) so we can start by picking a case from the mid sized atx category.

Also if we do that wont we need an after market cpu fan?
Edit: also sorry for attitude earlier
9xx.... 8xx? huh i got confused there... What im i looking for will one of these work?

xD you really don't understand.. The CPU should be what he is spending on the most for his needs. If video editing is the primary use of this build. The CPU is by far the most important item in this whole build.

7770 is plenty for today's games and it will play games much better than an xbox. xbox only plays at 720p with DX10 i believe. It upscales to 1080p but it is not true 1080p. 7750 is ~$10 less but IMO the 7770 is worth the extra $10

pcpartpicker is just an easy way to put together a build. You can find deals better by thoroughly searching, but that takes significantly more time and effort

yes i know about the xbox's 720 and 1080 upscale, I still disagree with your builds. you have parts missing that are needed.

its a moot point now anyway. He has specifically said he want an AMD computer.

In another post in CPUs I'm getting suggested to use the 1045t 6-core also my friend does have to buy the operating system a mouse and a keyboard. although the last two aren't too expensive still need to be calculated into the equation

EDIT: what is your opinion on the 1045T?

Alright I think I've constructed a good build. I'm able to get a mid tower for free so that allowed me to get some better items in here.

OS - win 7 home http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986 - $100
Mobo - ASUS M5A97 EVO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131757 - $115
GPU - XFX Radeon 6870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150521 - $190
PSU - Corsair CX600W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028 - $70
CPU- FX-6100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103962 $140
SSD- crucial 64 GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148441 - $85
HDD- WD 2 TB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136891 $120
Keyboard - Logitech k200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126191 $20
Mouse - Microsoft arc mouse http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826105228 $40
Optical bay - ASUS blue-ray burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135252 $90
CPU cooler - CM hyper 212 evo push-pull config http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 $34

That comes to about $1000
but after Mail in rebates and combo deals it come down to about $900 thinking I'll give him 8 GB ram for bday.
