Doom 3 is not a classic. Doom I and II were classics. 3 was an attempt to capitalize on the name by making a completely unrelated game and slapping the "Doom" name on it. They should have just called it "Quake" seeing how none of the Quake games really have anything to do with each other.

Quake 2 and 4 had things to do with each other, and ET:QW as well.

Q1 didn't make any sense, and was just some weird shooter where you ran around shooting random things.

Doom 3 was effectively a remake of the first Doom, where you're generic Space Marine #5 sent to Mars and then things happen.
