Corsair Dominator GT 1866 4x2GB or 2x4GB ?

I'm ready to buy some new Ram at this moment. But I don't know what the best choice is...

I can buy:

Corsair Dominator GT 1866 4x2GB at 1.65V

OR

Corsair Dominator GT 1866 2x4GB at 1.5V

I really want to fill al my ram slots, but what is the smartest choice ?

Hopefully someone can help me out frown.gif.. I'm using a ASUS Crosshair V Formula mainbord. AMD FX-8150 inside.

You want to get the 2x4GB kit. As you really don't want to load the memory controller with 4 sticks of ram. Thanks

The 2x4 GB sticks also run at a lower voltage, so even less stress on the parts. 1.65 V may not be harmful to the FX, but no sense in running higher volts when lower will do. Could also have more OC headroom too, if you did want to oc the RAM a bit.

So for the best performance I can better take the 2x4GB kit. And it's cheaper than 4x2GB.

But the thing I worry about is the voltage. 1.65 volt vs 1.5 volt and I was not sure if the memory controller was able to reach the full speed with 4 sticks, so that's why i ask here :$.

For last time, best thing to do is, buy 2x4GB kit smile.gif ?

Yeah the voltage is a problem too... And yes I want to OC the modules some bit higer. But the timings are: CL9-10-9-27.

Hopefully i can reach: CL9-9-9-24...

And another question... I will also get the Corsair Ram cooler withing the package... I don't prefer the cooler... Do i really need to use this ? Or is it only a must for going beyond the given speeds ?

Yes the best option is the 2x 4 GB. kit.

DDR3 RAM does not run hot so you don't need the fan or even top mounted heatsinks for most applications.

Well it's al clear to me now biggrin.gif ! I'll buy the 2x4GB kit, it's cheaper, have lower voltages and more room for overclocking. No hard choice anymore smile.gif.
