New mobo? Battle of two.

Hello. I posted a thread here earlier about my ASUS M4A79XTD Evo board dying out on me, so now it's time to get a new board.

The last two contenders picked by me are:

ASUS M5A97

and

ASRock 970 Extreme3

Which board is better? I could get the Asus board right now, whereas I'd have to wait a week or two for the ASRock. Also, they're priced around the same (85€).

The CPU I'm using is a Phenom II X4 965 BE (125W) @ stock speed 3.4GHz and the memory is Kingston HyperX Blu (4x2GB) @ 1600MHz

Not sure where you are located but newegg has them both in stock. Asrock having free shipping. The asrock look more promising then the asus one. They always seem to add more bang for the buck on their board. But they are both great boards. Or if the color scheme on the asus works get it. Or flip a coin and do heads or tails. Thanks

in theory they are very alike boards. what it goes down to is the nit picking. how many sata would you need. i honestly would say either board and how long you can wait for a new motherboard.

I'd really need only two Sata. One for the HDD and one for the Optical Drive. Might get another HDD in the future. And yeah, I'd rather get the one that I can get sooner (assuming there's not that much difference between the two)

then just get the asus. the specs for both are similar enough where you wont notice the differences.
