biostar tforce965pt-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138037
ram-??
300gb seagate hd
evga 6800gt 256 ddr3
water cooling-built kit

im reusing my old case monitor and keyboard mouse combo

i would like to know recomendations on ram for this setup. i wanted to know if 1 gig would be enough for now? maybe get a 1 gig stick then add one later when i have more money. i will be at least spicing up my old case and reused items with a nice car quality paint job. i do it for a living. thanks in advance for your comments people

How much you have for the RAM?

And I would get a different motherboard, like this one:
GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 $115.99

Good overclocker, and it's in stock.

For RAM, I'd say get the G.Skill DDR2 800 HZ stuff, later you can add the 2nd stick. BTW, it made a huge difference for me to go from 1GB to 2GB of RAM.

If you really have plan on getting that BIOSTAR board? Then you'll need to look into these two thread: Biostar TForce P965 and also Biostar 965PT PIC's and test results.

Hopefully, you'll get the idea of what you'll be getting into.

Seconding the G.Skill.

Great suggestions as always Nasgul.

okay i think i will change the mobo out for the ds3 and i am gonna get the gskill. my next question is when i get another stick will it be dual channel? im kinda overwhelmed with choices at this point. also will that vid card be able to play games well at least for a couple of months? it was free and its brand new unpoened.

yes if you get the same stick it should run in dual channel. I've heard even some different brands of same speed and timings would run in dual channel. You should certainly go for the g skill

I know it's a little late to mention this now, but I would've put together a custom watercooling setup; or at least invested in a Swiftech kit. However, since we can't change that now, for watercooling your video card you just remove the heatsink/fan that is on the graphics card you have now, apply some Arctic Silver 5 to GPU core and then install the GPU waterblock that came with your kit.

In reference to the RAM running in dual-channel, as long as you buy the same exact stick of RAM in the future your guarunteed for it to be dual-channel. Maybe save the link to the RAM just in case you forget. As for myself, I have 1 stick of Corsair ValueSelect (yeah yeah yeah, a friend built me this PC about 2 years ago and that's what I'm stuck with, I have surpassed my teacher by now though) 512mb and 1 stick of Buffalo (POS) 512mb and according to my BIOS they are both running dual-channel. That's with 2 crappy sticks of ram from to totally different companies. Probably running the same timings though in order to be dual-channel. Or...my ASUS A7N8X motherboard likes to lie to me .
