Found some cheap SATA cables... does this site look trustworthy?

Thread Starter
My HD's eat through SATA cables every 6-8 months... really annoying problem... one I did not have with my previous computer. My HD's go back to like-new condition when I put new SATA cables on them, so this is why I'm planning on getting the cables in a bulk.

Found these: http://www.foogra.com/products/56516/

I always bought stuff from hugely popular online stores... but I dunno about that one... what do you think?

10 cents? Hmmmm...
Well I suppose if you don't pay (too many) shipping costs, you'll only have lost 10 cents, right?
But me personally, I wouldn't trust it. Price is off, if you ask me.

Who buys SATA cables. Doesn't everybody have a massive stack of them from build leftovers? I guess maybe you might need them if you bought an Intel board. They are always stingy with the cables for some reason...

I also did not know one pounds was a dimension. I didn't even know that was English to be quite honest.

Also, in the long run, wouldn't it be better to try to solve your problem rather than doing this? Hell, it might be something wrong with the hdd and you may lose your data or something wrong with the controller on the board, which is equally as bad.

LOL! Some funny replies!

I have went through 3 pairs of SATA cables with these drives since 2008. I'm on my 4th pair now. I have 3 pairs of original cables that came with the mobo... the 4th pair I had to buy... 4$ a pop! That sucks! The ones from my mobo lasted longer than the ones I bought. The ones i bought lasted only 6 months!

Yes I'd like to solve this problem, but I dunno if its the HDs or the mobo. No way I can figure that out now. I did tests on HD and they were error free.

What starts to happen when the cables go bad is that the hard drives shut down and try to spin back up, but they cant. I have tried the HD's in and out of raid, and it still does this on bad cables. The problem gets worse over days and weeks if I dont change the cables. It gets so bad that the computer is no longer usable.... it just stays frozen while HD tries to spin back up. The second I put in new cables, they become like new again lol.

I don't have money to buy a new mobo, nor a new HD with these current crazy HD prices. I think either my mobo or HDs are sensitive to cables... maybe there is oxidation that one of those is sensitive too? i dunno.

Is this on a single hdd or all of your hdd's? Also, have you tried different sata ports?

Also, if you have a friend (which I'm sure you do rolleyes.gif ) Ask them to test out your old cables that stopped working for you. If they don't work for your friend, then something is causing the cables to degrade. If they work fine on a different rig, then it's a bigger problem.
