I tried many possible solutions over a few months, even reinstalled the OS to no avail. I was about to give up but tried termination of all non essential processes and services. I couldn't even connect to the net but was able to run the game and the issue stopped. Then I gradually started to turn on everything back one by one and found it was caused by some power managing utility (I'm on laptop). I uninstalled that and all works great since then.

It doesn't even happen everytime I play, it's very rare.
I try to lower my polling rate to 500hz from now on, so let's see if that has any effect whatsoever...

For CS 1.6, install MarkC Win 7 mouse fix. Older games like CS 1.6 turns on Enhance pointer precision (acceleration) despite control panel settings.

I've used MarkC mouse fix for years, I think.

Yeah, some people still have problems despite MarkC fix. Background apps like Teamspeak could possibly affect acceleration iirc. You could also try RInput instead of MarkC fix.

Worse comes to worse, make a Windows XP 32-bit partition. redface.gif

i know what this is. COD simple hates anything other than Windows XP. when i do play COD games, i always play them on my XP partition. this solves the random acceleration problem. i've had this with my MX518, a G5, and my current DA 3.5G. it happens if you use anything above 125 Hz. that's the only way to fix it short of playing all your COD games on XP. hope this helps.
