So a friend bought parts for her first rig and asked me to assemble it. She bought an NZXT 210 with a asus maximus V gene. During assembly I ran into a huge problem. The 560 ti she bought doesn't fit into the PCI slot. The long part goes in fine but the short part won't go in. I tried a 4850 and a geforce 8500. Each has the same problem, the longer portion of the pci slot fits in fine but the short part. It seems to me that the end of the PCI slot on each card is too long and hits the case. Any one else run into this issue?

make sure you pull the clip back while putting it in. it goes forward towards the sata ports.

On the PCI-slot right? the card inserts fine but when it gets to the end of the pci slot like where I indicated, the thing bottoms out and wont go anymore, so the card is like 75% in. I tried wiggling and and different kinds of maneuvers but it wouldnt work

no, I'm talking about the clip on the other end of the PCIE slot. the white tab here.

Also make sure you don't have any debris or something in the slot, and insert the card straight in, both ends equally at the same time.

Yea I made sure that tab was pushed in. When i try to put the card in equally on both sides, the long end inserts fine but the short end starts to go in but gets blocked at the PCI slot and wont go in any further. Im thinking of just grinding down the metal on the damn case. By the way, you have the same board right? When I start the computer, the fans on the heatsink do not turn on. They're both connected to the 2 fan headers on the motherboard and I tried multiple fans but It won't turn on. Do I have to turn it on in the BIOS?

Usually PCI brackets on GPU's are bent a little where that tab is that you're talking about. I just grab it with my fingers and straighten it out or grab a pair of pliers and make it perfectly straight.

I have done that with almost every PCI expansion card I have ever owned, I don't know why those tabs are ever so slightly bent, maybe they think it locks them in better but it makes them a pain to install. I just straighten them out with my fingers. I highly doubt it voids anything.

Maybe you are misunderstanding me - look at the card from a profile view and pay attention to the PCI bracket, most of the time they are bent ever so slightly. Just grab it and straighten it out.
