[Verge] Microsoft reportedly working to block apps that re-enable the Windows 8 Start button - Page 2

This is hardly surprising news. I'd do the same if I were in their shoes.

MS is starting to scare me with windows 8. So far not impressed. The exact second gaming is more supported by Linux I'll be moving from Windows entirely. If it wasn't for the lack of gaming support I would have already done so after Vista..
Why is it that they even care? so what some people want their start button. Dose this matter? why do the need to block it? silly control freaks are silly. If I wanted that kind of treatment I would be using a Mac.

I don't understand Microsoft.

Windows Vista, with major UI changes that were not properly thought out = fail.

Windows Vista Business, which is not a superset of Windows Vista Home Premium = fail (offer Windows 8 Pro for $15 to Windows 7 PC buyers in the coming months when it doesn't come with Media Center, the Start Button option, the ability to playback DVD's and Aero ? Are they really calling this an upgrade ? Customers will essentially be paying to lose options and have to spend either even more money or more time finding applications to give them the same functionality.).

The Mohave experiment, where Microsoft tried, fruitlessly, to try to convince people that Windows Vista wan't that bad = yes, great sucess in the experiment itself, fail in terms of market, which is what matters.

And all this talk about legacy code and the desktop being the past and desktop applications being the past and making the next version of Visual Studio only free to work for Metro apps. Did desktops suddenly become obsolete and Windows 7 is not the best selling desktop OS of all time ?

But then again I never really understood why this man runs the company in the first place.

Fun to watch as long as he isn't the CEO. Which he wasn't back then.
