[Verge] Microsoft reportedly working to block apps that re-enable the Windows 8 Start button - Page 29

I just downloaded windows 8 consumer preview to check it out and I have to say I have never hated anything more in my entire life. I can't deny that it is unbelievably fast. However it took me 5min and a google search just to shutdown windows 8.

I'm soooooo not buying windows 8.

Now Apple doesn't seems so bad.

Windows 8 is like having a car with a Ferrari motor and a KIA Metro body with an ugly paint job.
It will take a good used car salesman like Steve Jobs to sell this 'hunk-o-junk'
Of course Jobs was doing the opposite, junk on the inside, pretty on the outside....

No I didn't ?

That is true, but since the market is slowly moving to SSDs and on OCN even more of us use them. Having TRIM support is kinda handy.

I fail to see what running a quad-core Intel CPU has to do with using an SSD or not. File access time has absolutely nothing to do with the CPU.

He's talking about making a Ram drive for his pagefile. With 16GB of ram, he can make a 8GB ram drive and still have 8GB of ram. With Quad Channel, he'll be able to run it with little to no bottlenecking... at least theoretically because I have no experience with this sort of thing. But it makes sense.

Seems like more trouble than it's worth. We're talking fractions of a millisecond here. But to each their own.
