MSI 890gxm-GD65 Supports AM3+ OMG! WIN!!!!!!! Only Dual Crossfire AM3+ MATX Board

Hey Guys I received a nice surprise today in the Mail. Recently I ordered a 890gxm-gd65 from Newegg knowing that the socket was limited to AM3 CPU's. However, when I opened the package I realized I received some freak of a mainboard!!!!

The Original Mainboard should look like this....

But Lo and BEHOLD this is what I find!

I guess I have the only 890gxm in the world with an AM3+ socket.... HA HA. They haven't even announced this board or updated any specs anywhere! I am glad to say that this really unlocked the build for future AM3+ blowdozer / pilerider upgrade paths....

As well. This is the only MATX motherboard that Supports Bulldozer and crossfire. MATX + AM3+ and 2xPCIE 16x slots FTW!

Look what revision in your MBO.

This MBO is AM3+ over 6 months.

The black socket means nothing, even the white one are - AM3+.

My 890FXA-GD70 is AM3+ too.

Since 1.B BIOS it is AM3+.

Sure, but that's because AMD made the later CPUs mechanically compatible. Apparently this new black socket-thingy has extra rows of pins for physically larger CPUs in the future?

Already did and its running great. Currently have it pushing 4.8 ghz, but still think my 1100t has more CPU power.

is your mobo still alive? I use one as well, but one's that got shipped as an AM3 .. a bios update made it AM3+

This mobo is not good for overclocking...try a search in this forum about burnt 890gxm... I tried to overclock with it and got stable 4GHz on my 965BE but wouldn't use it OCed consistently

Any AM3 board that is half decent will have a BIOS update that allows it to use AM3+. You just got a revised board w/ a black socket.

Yep got my 1100t at 4ghz since I got my board. That means all 6 cores at 4ghz. Got rid of the dozer since the 1100t bests it. Also running crossfire 6870's no problem. This thing is amazing, and the AM3+ support is the best.

M3T4LM4N222 is just jelly that he doesn't have black sockets.
