No you are right it's not really headless because it is running a GUI. I suppose I could also use something like VNC if I really wanted to. Thanks!

vnc is slow and sucks imo. just set up x forwarding through ssh like with putty and install xming on windows to display the windows. you just edit your sshd config file and enable x forwarding then enable it in putty have xming running and bam windows pop up on your windows box when u type the command in putty. which leads back to my alias idea ;-)

In case anyone is curious how much power this thing is drawing....

It is hovering right around 500W at full load. Right now I am paying 11.5 cents per killowatt hour, so...
500W x 24 hours = 12k watts per day x 31 days = 372000 watts per month or 372 kwh x $0.115 = $42.78 per month. Really not bad at all considering the PPD.

The highest OC I was able to acheive on the 6128s I have, pulled about 610W.
I'll try to remember to look up the PPD that acheived so you can compare costs.
11.5 cents per sounds high to me. I need to check my utility bill.
I would estimate my bill is only up about $75 a month with three 4Ps running 24/7 with high OCs.
This is in a cool (well it was before the rigs took up residence!) unfinished basement room.

Don't forget to include taxes and fees ect. Im not sure what the base rate is in Chicago but in the end I pay 16.9 cents a KWh for electric. The base rate can be pretty low but then add in 'transmission fees', 'energy recovery fees' ect. and the cost goes up per KWh pretty fast. The rate also differs based on your residence (single family home, apartment building, commercial building ect.) in my area there are different base costs based on the number of people in the building and how it is heated in the winter (ie. electric vs. gas)

Yeah the 11.5 cents is after all fees (destination charges, etc.) and taxes. Basically the total bill divided by the total kwh.
On a side note, I got home from work today only to find the server unresponsive.
It looks like it stopped running sometime around 10am this morning at 95% complete for the 8101 it was working on. I have no idea what happened, there is nothing in syslog or anything like that. The fans were still spinning but there was no display and I couldn't ssh in either. Crap! Anyone seen anything like this? Could it be bad ram or bad chip?

Only had an issue like that when I pushed an OC too high.
You can let it finish the WU, if it will, and add -oneunit to the fah command line. That will stop it at completion.
Once it stops you can run some memory test. The MEMTEST that shows on Linux boot would do.
Also, read up some on a term called "ht-retries" on here and [H]ard Forum.
That test can point to dirty contacts on CPUs and help you decide which, if any, need cleaning.

OK thanks. It did finish the WU so I'm happy about that. It has started another one so I think I will let it go for now and see if it happens again, and if so take some action. Thanks yet again for all of your help.

Lol my primary i7 rig only draws 220w max, and my MineCraft / Home server only draws 45w. That's just, ya pretty much what I'd expect for this build. Then again I don't think energy costs are a real issue for your situation!
