Help on 3700+ OC

Thread Starter
Hey guys ive been working on oc'ing the system in my sig. Ive read a bunch and looked at a bunch of guides but cant seem to get my system to perform like it should. Temps are never a problem, so thats ok. Currently im running a 230FSBx11 on a x4 HTT, runs fine but i know it can take more. Memory is set on 3-4-4-8, but i cant find a divider option in the BIOS, just a mhz setting for the ram, which is set at only 400mhz, not 500 like it can be. For volts im at 1.58vcore and 2.7 for the ram. If someone could give me some pointers or a setup to try i would be greatful

Thanks
My System

Don't panic about the memory as it won't make much difference if its running faster than the FSB.

To change the RAM speed you need to go in CPU config>DRAM settings, highlight the ram speed then press the + and - keys on the right hand side of the keyboard or press enter then up and down, then enter to select.

That CPU voltage seems a little high for that speed, i can hit 2.6Ghz @ 1.39v, im not saying all 3700's are the same but you may want to look into it

If you know your way around the BIOS try these settings:-

CPU config:
HTT x4
Cool and quiet off

Dram settings:
Ram speed 400Mhz
stock timings

Jumperfree config:
250Mhz FSB
11x Multi
1.450v vcore
2.75v Ram
PCI 33.33Mhz
PCI-E 100Mhz

This will give you 2.75Ghz with the ram at 250Mhz (DDR500), if it fails try upping the vcore a little at a time until your good.

If you wanna try 2.8Ghz up the FSB to 255Mhz, leave everything else the same but the vcore as it may need a lot more, the HTT will be running faster than stock (1020Mhz-2040Mhz total) but if your board can handle it lower the HTT to 3.

Good luck

don't use .5 multipliers. it'll mess w/ your fsb settings. also sandy procs are relatively easy on voltage up to 2.6 or so. i had my fx-55 stable at 1.45v @ 2.8 ghz myself. Only use as much voltage as you need.

also when you overclock, try to use a higher HTT rather than a higher multiplier. it'll give you more control of your FSB settings and your proc settings.

Just realised hes using DDR500 so theres no need to worry about getting his ram to run at 200Mhz

No need to worry about a divider at least untill you get past a CPU bus speed of 250MHz when you set it to DDR400 in the BIOS. Dependant on what series the RAM is, 2.8v may squeeze an extra 10-20ish more MHz out of it before needing to apply the divider.
When necessary, setting the RAM to lower speeds like DDR333 or DDR266 will then apply a divider, but chances are you may not need one or only a the small divider of a DDR333 setting.

A few great FAQs that you may not have read yet

Do try to keep the max load temp of the CPU @ or below 50c.

you might also want to remember that each memory module requires different voltage. if you have TCCD you can pretty much overclock that module with minimal voltage, if not stock.

Yes, it's such a paint to recommend a voltage setting, generically most can take the 2.8v, obviously others can take more or perform well with less

zerotoxen: yes its hz ram

Also thought i should let yall know i had the ram set at 1t timings instead of 2t, i thought this would be better but i dunno, anyones input on this would be good.
