Solar Power to USB? - Page 2

Yeah similar to above's post, I would take a look at the manual. Locate where the fuse box is and see if it is blown. It is not hard to replace it at all. I was surprised how easy it was doing it for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

This could be helpful, not sure:

http://www.hondaaccordforum.com/forum/general-tech-help-7/no-power-cigarette-lighter-socket-25552/

Otherwise I would ask those guys, probably better advice to be had there than on an overclocking forum biggrin.gif

Cheers

If you insist on a solar panel, I had a quick look on eBay, there is one here that would work: Solar Panel
Cheers

Rep+ for the solar panel suggestion too. Now is there a way I could like tape a Lithium Ion battery to the back of this, so it could STORE the charge as well as charge the BT adatper? Any special one I would need? Or just any battery that charges and outputs with usb?

Thanks smile.gif There are many solar charged lithium battery based solutions available, eg. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Solar-Battery-Panel-USB-Charger-for-MP3-Cell-Phone-PDA-Black-/170852950596?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27c7a12244#ht_2428wt_1392

I don't have any experience with the one I linked, but I did buy a solar charged flash light with lithium battery at some point. It lasted about 2 months then it stopped working, so I wouldn't put too much faith in those.

However the larger solar panels will probably work just fine. Lithium batteries are hard to charge and maintain, they requires very accurate voltages to make them last long, any over or under charge will take the life out of them quickly.

Oh wow that's EXACTLY what I need. However, I can't help to think something that cheap isn't going to work that well...

For a simple DIY project, just get a 5-10W solar cell, perferable a 12V one. Then get a 5V linear regulator with a ~35V input rating (something like this) and connect it all together thumb.gif. There is a few more details of the design like input/output filtering caps and maybe a shunt resister, but it would be pretty simple.

Not exactly what you are looking for (I wouldn't want to leave it in a car all the time, as it gets like a blast furnace in there), but still.
