Good that you got SLI 680's rather than 7970's. Yes, 7970's do overclock well and the OC scaling is better but the fact is that all that "SLI feels smoother" talk is real and trumps all overclocking issues. I went from Trifire 6990/6970 to SLI 680 and even at low framerates it will feel faster than the AMD setup. Until AMD can match Nvidia in this frame smoothing technique I could never recommend 7970CFX over 670/680 SLI.

Yeah I thought hard in the 7970 and 680 debate, the highest resolution I will be playing at is 2500x1400.

The 1gb may come in handy down the road. That's where e 7970s catch up to a gtx680. But even then, it doesn't beat it and the ram never limited the gtx680 even with mods. I know I had a lot of trouble In crossfire before I had to leave for a while. I also know overclocks are not guaranteed. Like one of the 7970s I had....

Then what? The extra cram only goes so far. Performance of the gpu weighs much higher in fps than the VRAM will allow

As for the 3770k. Well,I wanted something that performs better. The 2700k once overclocked is generally a little faster. Once they revise the chip more and makes it worth the upgrade on a 2700k I will resell and upgrade to it.

I liek it my 7970's biggrin.gif

PS
ASRock boards are awesome. They don't catch fire like MSI & Gigabyte, don't have paltry features like eVGA & dont look ugly as balls like ASUS.

Also, my 3770k is performing as well as a 2700k @ 5.1GHz. Good luck bro.

I like a couple features Evga offers and love the looks of asus board. Hate looks of gigabyte but love the support and price for quality.

Asrock is just meh in all categories like msi to me lol.

Really? I run my 7970's @ x8 in PCI 3.0 (equal to x16 in 2.0) - I can add the GTX560 Ti I have laying around for physx without losing any PCIE 3.0 lanes. Plus I'm using the mSATA for wifi + bluetooth, but could easily add another mini SSD. On top of that, my 8+2+2 phase power is working less than yours will be (less power) and I paid under $160CAD rolleyes.gif

It seems that NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 SLI has a performance advantage over Radeon HD 7970 CrossFireX here. GeForce GTX 680 SLI is on average near 19% faster than Radeon HD 7970 CrossFireX. The minimum framerate on GTX 680 SLI is also able to stay above 60 FPS, while 7970 CFX has a drop down to the upper 40s and lower 50s for a bit of time. Considering Radeon HD 7970 CFX has more VRAM, these results are already interesting.

Another DX11 game that the GTX 680 shines in. The HD 7970 also has great performance in this game also. thumb.gif

I believe that up to 2560x1600 or so the NVidia cards are great but at the res I play at, 6048x1200, the AMD cards seem to have the edge.

When I update to 3 monitors and über res. I will probably run with amd again. I might run with them still since PayPal and Newegg are being ridiculous right now.

My billing address doesn't match since I am military and moved like 6x in 2 months... By the time my order goes through gtx 680s won't be available yet again frown.gif
