Because most beta's are not beta's now, they are a pre jump headstart to get to play early. So they exploit that and make you pay.

I thought valve said they was doing something completely different/new/shocking?!?!
Or was that related to something else? (Im Confused!)

Either way. This is better then what people are currently doing. At least you have guaranteed instant access plus additional stuff. I like how the BP Boost items can stack, Full team of BP Boosters = Mass BP boost for everyone!

EDIT: I still dont know why people are getting all dodgy over this... The game is no released... If you have a problem with Valve making a pre-profit(?) of an unreleased game then something's wrong...

This is a good micro transaction system, not a greedy one like riot/s2 games.

To be honest when I click this thread I thought it was some sensationalist media making a big deal out of something like pre-order with beta access.
If everything carry over to final release and cost money to play then it is not beta.
