I got beta access like 3 days after doing the sign up survey, did they stop letting people in like that or something?

But it has too many flaws and you can simply replace it with a button like "refer a friend" that sends them an email/Steam message with the game page and Beta Sign Up link. That to me seems like a lot easier way to do it, and more fair. Eliminates the so called "Black-Market" without having to charge their customers for anything. (also eliminates people getting extra keys simply to sell, free's up a lot of wasted or unused keys that are never gifted, and so forth.)

So yea, the argument of stopping the "Black-Market" just doesn't hold up to the mildest scrutiny.

So I can just create steam accounts and sell the invites tied to them. People WILL find a way to make a profit off of something that is handed out freely without risk in its acquisition. There is a "so called "Black-Market"." It is an entirely appropriate description. You continually gloss over the important fact that there is no compulsion on anyone to pay Valve anything to get into beta. Please stop trying to talk around this fact. It is entirely voluntary in every possible way.

-The game is going to be F2P.
-All the heroes are going to be free.
-Getting into the beta is free.
-Valve instituted a voluntary, paid option for people that are impatient. It is both a deterrent and revenue generator.

Apparently, the doom of beta is nigh.

You call me on overreacting by overreacting. Aweomesauce. Theres no reason to pay for Beta. I guess your right. But with limited Beta Keys, it might come down to buy or not play. If its accepted and praised by the community, I can see them simply lowering the fee and making it the only way to get into Beta. As I've stated many times, its less to do with this, and more to do with the precedent I see being set. Such companies aren't known for not taking advantage of such things to make a quick buck...

Oh well, to each their own.

I don't get it, that's the exact system in place except instead of using steam inventory, you're using email. In the end it's still a lottery, valve are still using a lottery system and if you don't feel lucky, you can buy access.

I've come to grips with the fact that people on overclock.net like to habitually criticize everything.

If they don't want to play our game, we shouldn't force them.

People on OCN like to criticize everything except when it comes from Valve Something like this would be despised and you'd see pages upon pages of hatred if it was anybody else doing the same thing, but since it's Valve it's completely okay.

For me, it's not ok. But, what do I care? I know I wouldn't buy one even if I didn't have access to the beta. They're meeting a demand that came from the market that they're making good/services for. People are making it sound like someone is being forced to buy these things. It's the buyers money and they can do what they want with it. If it becomes a standard guess what I'll do......simply don't buy.

You mean pre-order for beta access? While I do think that is also bad. This is worse. In pre-order case, you pay $60 for pre-order a game with or without the beta key. In other word, it is more or less a bonus. Unless you are going to tell me that other item worth $40 dollar too.
