Can anybody find me a better deal??

These are what I've found and both are in stock... The OEM processor I chose because I obviously won't need a HSF and Fan. Plus it's $20 cheaper. Do I run the risk of getting a crappy stepping by goinmg OEM?? In otherwords do they put the good steppings in Retail or do they mix 'em up??I would LOVE to get 3.0 but I don't know if I can with my current ram. Also will that typhoon even fit in my case?? I have no clue how big it really is but I know it must be huge to have a 120 fan on it.

Thanks for all the help guys I can't wait to get this setup Gaming and folding ohhh myyyy

With Opty DC Ive had much better experiences with the steppings on OEM versus Retail, although I doubt this is due to them only putting good steppings OEM. The current stepping I have came from Monarch also. That def is a great deal. The BT will fit in that case.

On the BT, I have it in the skinnyest full tower case made and it just barelly fits! I'm thinking a carefully placed 120 grill in the side panel will work out very well.
BTW, that's with a thin fan, the thick ones wont fit in that case which is only 7 1/6 thich.
Time for a fatter case for me, I keep feeding it MHz gut if refuses to grow.

Thank you sir Much appreiciatedf since I would've been REALLY dissapointed if that thing would have fit lol. I know I'm gonna have to remove this tube that they have inside for cpu venting not sure about the plate it mounts too though

Attachment 33805

Attachment 33806

Edit: If it is big enough I will modify it because it does seem to work. In short time it took to take pics temp shot up 4c

Is that fan interchangable?? Because I'd like to put the matching Antec 120mm I have on the rear so I can get some more blue in that case

Attachment 33807

I know its dirty in there

Ya... I posted this in the online deals like 4 days ago....

Any way, Opty 165 with a good stepping and a TT BT is one of the best combos you can get. Especially since you have a decent mobo and good RAM, if you're lucky you should reach 3 GHz.

Basically, my Antec 282 case has 6.5" from the base to the clearing point of installing the side cover. That is not including the mounts, or measured from the base plate. From the MB out it's about 6.25", so if it fits in that skinny of a box (never seen one skinner) it should fit in any tower.

PLEASE laugh at me since I just stuck a tape measure made out of metal in my rig (with it on ofcourse )all the way to baseplate to measure this hahahahaa I've got 6 1/2" +/-also to work with without flange and tube on side of case. Sounding like I may have to modify the opening to accomodate that huge fan. Did anyone know if that fan is replaceable on it??

It should be, but I'm not sure you could get comparable performance from a thinner fan than that one.

Yes I see what you mean now. 54cfm vs. the 34cfm that antec puts out is a big difference
