help with Asus 7970 DirectCuII Issue

Hi all

Nice New Asus 7970 DirectCII has an issue.

It works perfectly on all output on my 20" Dell Monitor, that is.. DisplayPort, DVI Single link and DVI Dual Link.

But when i connect my Hazro 30" 2560x1600 Dual Link DVI monitor i get green pixels flashing all over my screen, The Card runs all games perfectly on any monitor that is up to 1920x1200....

It doesnt crash or have any driver issues on the 30" hazro apart from this green flashing pixel issue.

Could it be an issue with the card where it deals with dual link? I have a DisplayPort to Dual link DVI Active adapter on its way which should be here today that im hopeing will fix this issue, But if it does do i still RMA the card?

Anyone got any ideas? Would a Bios update fix this?

Can you use the DirectCUII TOP Bios on the Normal DirectCuII?

Are you sure you're using a Dual-Link DVI cable?

Yup BIG, im sure, if i were to use a single link i would have striped all over the screen.

Funny thing is if i use a LONG dual link cable the problem is much worse.

EDIT: Post man just arrived, with a Bizlink Dual link DVI adapter!

Its working perfectly fine on the adapter biggrin.gif

So its defo an issue with the card sending dual link via the DVI ports.

I may still RMA it next week though

Is there a switch on board for switching the DL-DVI port to be DL (disabling one display-port?). I'm not seen myself 79xx DCII models, but some of the older ones - I think - had something like that.

Umm by my understanding it should switch between DL-DVI (disabling one DP for that) and SL-DVI (enabling 4th DP) for that port. But as mentioned I have not touched the 79xx series version myself so might be different there.

I had the same green pixel issue with my 7970 DCII TOP. My DL-DVI cable worked with with ASUS 5850 and ASUS GTX 670 DCII TOP but with ASUS 7970 DCII TOP I got the green pixels. I hesitated to try different cable but for my surprise it worked!
