Loop suficient?

Thread Starter
I have a custom loop that i'm using atm but i'm planing to add WC gpu onto it.

Currently it was a XSPC EX240 radiator and 2500k but i'm not sure if that loop will handle a 7970.

Do you think the loop will handle the extra gpu?

Yes, it would. Temps might not be the greatest, but it'll run! tongue.gif

ex240, nope.. an rx can, what kinda temps are you on now?
for a stock CPU/GPU (no OC) you might rustle through but
any OC and your walking with evil.

EX radiators get better temps than RX when using high speed fans and are close to the same performance at lower speeds.

2500k at 4.5ghz is 20c idle and around 55c load with ambient 20+c. Well Australia isn't the best place to get good temps.

Using a Silverstone FT02 case (3x18cm) and 2 Scythe GT 1850rpm fans on the radiator.

The RX edges the EX out at 800 RPM but at 1200RPM the EX passes the RX and never looks back. Fantastic little radiators, love mine.

I run a i7 860 @ stock and a 5850 @ 1000/1100 on 240mm of rad.

It works OK but gets a little toasty when folding.

If you don't want to get an additional / bigger rad straight away my advice would be to add the card in and see what sort of temps you get. If they are acceptable then you are sorted, if not then you can add in another rad. It is only going to cost you an extra shipping fee and an hour or so of your time to do it that way.
