SQL Server 2008 R2: Importing SQL

Thread Starter
Couldn't think of anywhere else to put this. I'm building a mobile product for a customer, which is driven by an existing database under SQL Server 2008 R2. Due to data sensitivity concerns, the customer could only export the schemas and stored procedures, as .sql files.

I;ve replicated their setup - Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2 - but now I need a way of importing those .sql files back into SQL Server 2008.

Has anyone done this before? Is it even possible? Replies will be much appreciated. smile.gif

I'm not on my work machine, but I think the steps to do this is
  1. Install Sql Server Management Studio (there's a command line way, but I don't know it
  2. Connect to Sql Server
  3. Select the new database
  4. run the .sql in a new Query Window

That should make all the tables, stored procedures, and schema

But you'll have to do the permissions over.

EDIT : can use Import/Export Wizard? : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms140052.aspx

Hey, many thanks for that. In fact I tried that earlier and it didn't look as if it had worked, then I realised that the tree in the left-hand pane doesn't auto-refresh. A manual refresh shows the new tables after they are added. smile.gif
