All I can say is that you usually assign static IPs to printers or give them a DHCP reservation. If not, the printer's IP can change and you'll have to figure out what the new IP is. The IP you give it should have the same subnet ID and mask as it's gateway. (Example: Gateway is 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0, then printer could be set to 10.0.0.10 255.255.255.0)
Also, make sure it's set to just use IP and not IPX/SPX (or some other antiquated protocol).
