Why isnt this printer working

I got the jet Direct card and i also have a windows server 2003 machine with dual NIC (DHCP DNS AD FS) The thing is i can *sometimes get the old Jetdirect card to get a IP using Bootp but it dosnt seem to hold it or anything i cant ping it and when i print the configuration page i get nothing.

Any one has any experience with this?

All I can say is that you usually assign static IPs to printers or give them a DHCP reservation. If not, the printer's IP can change and you'll have to figure out what the new IP is. The IP you give it should have the same subnet ID and mask as it's gateway. (Example: Gateway is 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0, then printer could be set to 10.0.0.10 255.255.255.0)

Also, make sure it's set to just use IP and not IPX/SPX (or some other antiquated protocol).

I found the problem.. The switch isnt compatible.. It allows the Printer to communicate to get a IP but after that it dosnt route the connections back..

I connected it to the Access point (which is a modified router) and that solved the issue.
