Hey everyone,

I have a customer that needs to have some data recovery from a dead laptop.

I opened the laptop to find that the Hard drive is a m-sata with a Flex Cable interface.

In order for me to retrieve the data, I'll need a USB to Flex Cable adapter but can't find one anywhere...

I was wondering if anyone can give me a hand.

The flex cable connectors look like this:

Is there any sort of adapter on the drive that can be removed? Any chance we can get a picture of the drive? Lots of those laptop drives are mini PATA or SATA or whatever, then have adapters stuck to them to protect the pins or connector.

I actually found something on ebay, all this time I was googling flex to usb, when I should've google flex to sata.

Are you sure that's the right adapter? There are different sizes and styles of ZIF connectors. I counted the number of pins in your picture, and there seems to be 40 - not 50? Have you counted to make sure it's not a 40-pin ZIF-PATA adapter that you need?

I don't know much about ZIF, so maybe you do have the right one - but I can count pins in a picture, and it doesn't look like it to me.

Nice catch and yes you're right, but the ribbon I'll be using to attach it is 50Pins from the drive to 40 pins to the adapter. It comes with both connectors. Thanks though!
