Hello overclockers, I (just a few days ago) built a computer with these specs, with the intent of playing bf3 very smoothly maxed out with 64 players: 8gb ram, 650w psu, biostar a960g+, gtx 670, fx 4100 and an antec kühler h2o 620. Sadly the fx 4100 is severely bottlenecking my gtx 670. So here is my question: A: should I change my motherboard to intel and get a 2500k? which would be a pain because I just built this. B: wait for piledriver? C: Buy an amd fx 8150? I am looking for a future proof gaming machine that can run 64 players maxed. Thanks for your time.

I would have to say that for what you want, a switch to Intel might be in the right direction. I do not know how well that motherboard overclocks, but I cant imagine it being fantastical. The FX-4100 is an ok chip at its price, but it isnt meant for more CPU intensive type situations. A Deneb or Thuban is also a possibility. Sounds like you got a good GPU, but undershot on the CPU. Its all about finding that perfect balance between CPU and GPU

post some screen shots of your CPU useage during a game, as well as GPU useage.
Run like MSI afterburner and your task manager, then launch the game then after a bit of playing Alt TAB out and posta screen shot showing your useage of CPU and GPU

My you usage in 64 player combat is usually 32-45 percent and my CPU is 90-98 percent. I have fps drops to 0-11 fps every 2 minutes or so.

BF3 only uses 6 cores.
I recommend waiting for the FX-6300.

I would give the overclock another shot. 4.2 should be not problem at all. Are you on stock cooling? Try giving it a small voltage bump to stabilize it. While I do think you undershot your CPU choice, there is no reason to go intel, especially since you already have the motherboard. Download this http://www.xyberdyn.com/tools/ , play the game, then hit the windows key to take a screen shot of the monitor. Post it here along with your GPU usage using MSI Afterburner.

I am on antec kühler h2o 620 water cooling. Do you think 4.5ghz would be stable with an a960g+ motherboard? If so, why should I put the voltage at? My motherboard's max is 125 and it's max clock rate is 5.2 hyperlink transport speed.
