Just switch over from AMD....New system doesnt work!

I am reusing all the components from my old build (including OS! i will reinstall 7 after i take a few things from it) besides CPU and mobo obviously. I just purchaced a 2500k with the asrock Z77 Pro4-M

The problem is two fold. First it can boot into the login screen, but my mouse and keyboard does not work (using wired usb keyboard and mouse)

Second, when the screen prompts me to press f11 to enter bios, after i press it, the screen goes blank and stays that way. (same with press f2 to change boot order)

Things i have tried

1 stick of ram

Disconnect all HD's from mobo (to try to get into bios)

Any suggestions or is the mobo doa?

Try booting into a Linux LiveCD and check if your mouse/keyboard works there. If it does, then its Windows not having the drivers. As for the BIOS, I have absolutely no idea.

Try removing the CMOS battery and then boot up . if you can enter the BIOS try putting the battery and rebooting again ........ and also check the power connections from your PSU to your motherboard ...... maybe something is loose or wrongly installed.

OK well found out what was wrong with seeing the bios... it was the monitor believe it or not. I was using an apple monitor with a dvi connection and it would let me see the os, but not the bios. Switched it to my dell ultrasharp the viola Weird!

Now i gotta install windows and see if that changes the mouse and kb problem

apple monitors can be weird at times smile.gif

install the usb 3.0 drivers . maybe those are giving the keyboard problems !! also check in the bios. If there is option for legacy usb 1.0 or 2.0.............. enable those and try
