Custom made Watercooled Desk - build in progress

Right, so I have decided that I wanted to something really different with my computer, and after seeing a few desk mods, I have decided I would like to do my own smile.gif
At the moment, It is just idea's, I think the real deal will start in around a month, just have to finalise my designs
The bottom sides are draws,
A lot of the tubing will be run under the desk itself, tidily of course. And there will be a fake bottom kind of thing, so that the psu cables can be routed under, and pop up where needed on the Mobo connectors

Would really like to hear some people's opinions about this smile.gif

Here is a pic atm

Looks pretty good but I would put all the main components into the middle chamber mainly because of wire management. I guess if you were to use extensions then it'll be fine.

I would suggest this as well. Also, what is your rad order going to be?

pump out---right rad in----right rad out----CPU in---CPU out---left rad in---left rad out---gpu in---gpu out---pump in

Thats a pretty large loop, what type of pump do you intend to use? Also, for appearances sake, I would suggest instead of having the openings in the front, shift the openings to the bottom and put in a few 140mm or larger fans, it will reduce the noise you hear too I think. Im assuming the top is acryllic or glass? Also, what do you intend to do for airflow directions? Are both rads going to suck in towards the center? If you do that, the most cool air will get in, but you will definitely need 4-6 exhaust fans pushing air out the back/bottom to keep good pressure.

I would put the hdd and ssd on the other side, you're going to need to pretty long sata cables!

Good design, I agree with much of what the above individuals have said but i wanted to add this....

How easy will it be to access the components/clean the system of dust? Use of dust filters on the intakes will definitely cut back on dust intake, but sooner or later you will still need to clean the inside of the "case".

Just my 2 cents to help you buy some food for thought thumb.gif

I like it. If the whole top was glass so you could see into it, I think that would look wicked, especially lit up with either UV or with a USB controlled RGB LED lights.

Personally, I would make 3 separate chambers in the desk with no real ventilation pass thru between chambers. This would keep most of your heat, which is being generated from the left and right chambers housing the 4x140 radiators from spilling into the main computing area.

Further, I would give consideration to having 2 separate pumps and 2 separate reservoirs. This would keep the most heat out of the center chamber as the res and the pump generate heat. You could then use bulkhead connectors to bring the water into the center chamber from each side. If you use quick disconnects, you could then work on each of the three areas without having to drain or reprime the other two chambers. Alternatively, you could do some sort of custom "acrylic link" that would be in the middle chamber and link the two radiators. Depending on how crazy you wanted to get, you could make the water flow in a design and light it up in a color.

Now, as for radiator placement in the two outer chambers, you could put them in the middle of the outter chamber, then have a side mounted air intake vent then the air would pass through the rad, then out a rear mounted vent.

For the center chamber, I'd put one or two vents down low (underneath) to draw air in, then vent it out the back.

[Edit]

Here is what I sort of was talking about with an acrylic "water link".

No offense to you dude... but this has been done before. the only reason i'm being kind of critical about this is because it is almost EXACTLY the same as the cross desk that is being mass produced by L3P through red harbinger... and it said that you want criticism

sorry to inform you on that

Hey all, thanks for the replies, all your ideas have been noted, and I will redo another desk. This is why getting criticism is good !!

BTW: I do not care if it has been done, It will still be different to any other desk, so your point is invalid
