Trash folder for PMs

Can we get some clarification on the purpose of this please? At the moment, it just acts like any other folder you could create yourself. There's no way of emptying the folder, to delete PMs (what you would expect to be able to do).

 

But, more annoyingly, even if you move a PM conversation to the trash, if a new PM comes in, the whole conversation is replicated in your inbox anyway... which makes the folder seem rather pointless...

Don't they auto delete after a while? I delete PMs and they will be moved there and eventually they disappear. Then you can get something back if you want.
