Typically, faster ram shows very little improvement over slower RAM in most applications. For gaming, the difference might be 1-2% between 1333 MHz and 1866 MHz, and timings don't help much either. Unless you're going for hard benchmarks, I would just get the cheapest 2x4GB kit, unless you really really need 16 GB (RAMdisk, heavy editing multitasking). If you have16 GB, but never use more than 7-8, you're just wasting money, and those prices are pretty rough.
Actually i dont have anything yet.. im building my rig this summer and i am "digging" into the parts now..
i will use a 2500k and a gtx 670.. i wanted to go with 2x4gb Gskill, but i read today that the high-end GPUs consume a big part of my Ram..so 8gb might reach the limit.. thats why just in case i wanted to check some 16gb.. not sure if i understood right this part though..
the pc goes for gaming btw..
