Assumption:

- I don't manually overclock RAM...however, setting XMP profile is fine.
- This is for Ivy Bridge z77 build
- Assume price is the same for both sets
- If either of these RAM is better or more stable for CPU overclocking..I would lean toward it (whether it's due to speed or volts..see last question below)

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 1600:

LINK: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231445

CAS: 8
Volt: 1.5
Timing: 8-8-8-24

G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB DDR3 2133:

LINK: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231518 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231476

CAS: 9
Volt: 1.65
Timing: 9-11-10-28

Thoughts?

Also, for overclocking CPU...is it better or more stable to have 1600 @ 1.5v compared to 2133 @ 1.65v? Is there a benefit one way or the other?? (this is my real question, tbh)

You really won't notice much improvement at all with the 2133 over the 1600. If you can even get the ram stable at 2133.

You can expect up to 4GB/s higher bandwidth with 2133MHz memory compared to 1600MHz (also depends on your CPU overclock as it affects memory bandwidth)..

In real life usage there would be almost no difference..

I'm running OC'd 1600MHz 9-9-9-27 RAM at 2133MHz 10-11-10-30, CR= 1T so I know from my own experience..
