[Build log] Diablo 3 themed HTPC - FINAL HIGH RES PICTURES - Page 7

Happy to hear you got it running thumb.gif

I'm confident no harm was done by the previous overheat shutdown.

Now, play some games on it before you hand it over biggrin.gif

What kind of temps are you getting on CPU/GPU now?

Thanks man cheers.gif

I am going to put some music and movies on it tonight to give XBMC a proper testing.
And I am going to install Skyrim and Diablo 3 on it to give it a bit of a testrun. See how much gfx power the FX4100 paired with the HD6950 can handle. Do maybe a prima95 run to test temps and stability. If my temps have room I will also overclock the FX a bit.

Up untill now (just doing installaions and such) the GPU is about 30-35 degrees and the CPU is about 35-40 degrees. But the H70 on the CPU only has a PUSH fan due to room limitations while the GPU has PUSH-PULL. I wish I could have switched but there just isn't enough room in the case. In a regular case I could have done that. So I'll see what the temps will be doing.

This weekend I will be buying some maskingtape and double sided extra strong sticky tape to mod the top panel and fit the window.

Nice! .. Looking forward to see the top panel window fitted. That will be a great final touch.

Temps sound good, try a quick prime95 and furmark (5 mins or so), just to cure and settle the TIM, usually I get better temps after a quick heat up. Make sure to keep an eye on the temps while you do it smile.gif

Cheers

I just cut a 20*30cm hole in the top panel of the case. Took some photos. Going to get my kid out of bed now.

Temps have actually gone lower. I am not using the most accurate way I know. I am using two temp sensors, one in each radiator. But yesterday I tried to play a little Skyrim on it. And the cpu wouldn't even touch 35 and the gpu not even 30. I want to give those test you say a try. See what happens at 100% activity.

Tonight I will grab the dremel and make the edges and corners nice and clean. Then I will spray paint the cuts black and tomorrow I will use some super double sides tape that can withstand 95 degrees celcius and fit the window.

I cannot wait tbh. This really is the final piece of the puzzle and of this build.

Thanks for your comments JvJ.

Here are the pictures to aid the previous reply. I changed one thing. The top panel had some little white dots in places and the line of metal colour after I sanded the edges was too big for me to approve. So I sanded the entire top veeeeery lightly and put one layer of black paint on it. It looks all supershiney now because the paint is still wet, but in a week or what that should be gone quite a bit so it won't be some black-mirror-box in the room. After the paint has dried maybe tomorrow evening I will put in the plexi panel and I can stick a fork in it. It will be done and I will be on the lookout for another project smile.gif

Here are the pics for now.

This build is done. The lid is on, the window is in. I will ask my neighbour with an SLR to make good pictures of it. For now two bad quality phone photos. I will update it later on with the good pictures.

Too bad not many people followed it. I guess it's because it doesn't have top of the line components.

Thanks to everyone that did comment on the build thumb.gif

BTW I did some stresstests with Furmark and Prime95 yesterday. The GPU didn't break 50 with which I was very pleased. The CPU temp reached about 40s high. I was less pleased with that. I guess it's due to the single push fan and no pull fan. Doesn't really give room for (much) overclocking. Oh well. Maybe I can OC it on stock voltage. We'll see how far I will get.

Congrats on completing the build thumbsupsmiley.png

Love the window, both with the etching and that it allows a nice view inside smile.gif

Future owner should be very happy, I know I would if I was the receiver biggrin.gif

Looking forward to final high-res pics.

i kno it may seem a little tacky, but have you considered adding the pull fan OUTSIDE the case?
