There's a sticky at the top of the PC Games forum with a list of games that are control pad compatible. Don't think it's updated much but it's fairly recent.

As others have suggested, Batman and GTA are great with a controller. I also use my controller for jet flying in BF3. Most driving and flying games are awesome with a controller.

Dead Space, actually.
Over the shoulder viewpoints where twitch gameplay isn't a necessary factor is a good sign that it plays better with a controller. Aiming is also much nicer.

As said before, racing games as well.

Twin Stick shooters, IMO are also night on impossible to play on a M+KB.
If you havent already, try out Beat Hazard. It is my favorite game for controller.
