OK, sure. There are exceptions to every rule. I should have said "
the vast majority of games don't benefit from the fifth and sixth core." Happy now? If anyone out there uses their PC as a dedicated BF3 playing rig and doesn't want Intel, the Phenom II X6 is highly recommended.

If the manufacturer provided a new BIOS that can recognize the FX processors, you can use them on an AM3 board. I don't see any FX processors listed on the support list for your board. Even if they did make a BIOS that supported it, running an FX on a regular AM3 board is not recommended by AMD and usually doesn't work well.

If you do that much video rendering, and you're not ready to change motherboards, you really should get a Thuban if you can find one. Rendering uses all of those six cores even better than Battlefield 3 does.
