Hey hunted gunner you got MSN? if so add me at wright22 at gmail dot com..... I do not overclock with this rig so thats not a problem. I am using the SATA1 port on my motherboard.... I tried the PRI_SATA but it wanted me to setup an array and the whole thing there didn't seem to be working.... Please help me out =). I got linux to install no problem but now linux wont boot up because its freezing when laoding modules. It freezes at.. "Genetaring Network interfaces'' or something like that but don't bother helping me with that because I don't want to run linux.

Hope to talk to you on MSN i'll be on after 6:30 Eastern Time when I get home from work! I hope you can help more!!! +Rep

Yeah, it asked me to set up a RAID array too (for PRI/SEC_SATA), so i just set it to 0+1. With both of these controllers, they expect you to be using a RAID array (i'm not sure if all SATA controllers are like this, though). And if you're using SATA 1 or 2, make sure your FSB is < 220MHz.

For windows, did you make a floppy and load the drivers with F6 at the beginning of installation?

Edit: I know nothing about Linux; sorry, can't help you there.

I tried to make a floppy but I don't know if I just had the wrong files or what but that didn't work. Can you maybe post the files for the floppy I need or give me a link to download them? Thanks

For the VIA Floppy-Driver Creator (SATA 1 and 2): Go into the CD by right clicking and hitting "explore," go to the Drivers folder, VIARAID, 6420RAID, Driver Disk, then click on the "MakeDisk" icon. It should prompt you to insert a floppy, hit OK, then it'll do the rest for you. You would then use this floppy to install the driver during setup (press F6 when setup starts up). If your CD drive is drive D:, then you can just type this into Run in the start menu and hit enter (put your CD into drive D:, of course): D:\\Drivers\\VIARAID\\6420RAID\\DriverDisk/MakeDisk

For the Promise Controller (PRI and SEC_SATA), Go into the CD via "Explore," go to the Drivers folder, Promise, 378RAID, then click on the "MakeDisk" icon. Just like the VIARAID driver, it should promt you for a floppy which you would use to install the driver during setup using F6 at startup. Here's another quick location for the driver: D:\\Drivers\\Promise\\378RAID\\MakeDisk

Again, this is for windows drivers only, not Linux.

Good Luck

Edit: Trying to put the files onto the floppy manually is harder because there are more files required than just the driver itself for windows setup to see the drive. Using the included MakeDisk programs, you get all the files necessary put onto the floppy automatically.

Hey guys back again, plugged in my floppy drive for this and my old harddrive to make that Driver Floppy (because this comp has floppy and CD drive, laptop can only have one or other, and rents comp didn't come with floppy).

But when I put the floppy in it says Disk needs to be formatted woudl you like to do so now Yes or No. click yes then tells me it can't read the disk. But the laptop reads it fine and I even fomatted it on laptop then tried but no god (multiple floppys).

I assume is just old and crap an dead. Just figured I'd ask if anyone knew of other reasons it would do this to save me from goin to the store? thanks
