Unless you want to be able to go Crossfire with that x1900xtx.....

Or run SLI higher than 8x / 4x

975x for the long run.

Definately a 965P considering its an E6400.

The P5B deluxe (that Chozart metnioned) is very good and will serve you well. If you want to go cheaper, go the DS3 by gigabyte, cheaper and go the S3.

The P5B deluxe can also crossfire FYI.

(PS: Crowley = fanboy?)

I didn't realise the p5b could do crossfire, I thought it was cracked sli only

It still has a strap after 400mhz, making it worthless to pass 400mhz until 460mhz or so

I'm in much the same quandary between a Gigabyte DS4/E6400 or Abit AW9D-MAX/6600.

nicemates, big Abit fan though I am the AB9 series isn't as good an overclocker as the Asus P5B series, Biostar Tforce 965 or Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6.

I reckon teh DS4 is a bit of a waste. If you aren't going P5B Deluxe, you should go S3 and save the rest.

Just my 2c

Thread Starter
hmmm this really isnt going to be an easy decision. personaly i would rather go for asus pureply because they make the best motherboards (its opinion based dont shout at me). however my friend has the same feelings about about abit so i would consider getting one. ive had gigabyte mothnerboards in the past and ive told myself on many occasions that i will not buy another. i am also not fussed at all about crossfire or SLI, until its twice or at least half the performance again in everything, i dont think the cost is justified. so that feature is not an issue with me.

alot relys on how long my current CPU lasts. (its dying all explained in another thread). but i hear alot more motherboards are coming out in december, is it worth waiting for a clear c2d winner?
