Phone took a dunk in the ocean.

Title says it all. Pulled it apart and cleaned all of the corrosion with alcohol and a cotton swab, dried everything out, removed all of the gunk from regular use. Electricity still shoots straight to the speakers when I plug it in. Any suggestions?

Take it apart, put the parts in a towel and leave for a day or two in the airing cupboard. Should do it...

It's toast - everything got shorted. I don't think there's much you can do. How long was it in? Did you remove the battery immediately?

Just because it took a dunk, doesn't instantly mean it is dead. There could just be a small amout of liquid still shorting it out some were. Leaving it in an airing cupboard, where it warm and dry can solve that.

If it doesn't work after that the yes, it is probably dead.

Those phones and their little feet, it's annoying when they do that.

On a serious note : I once dropped my HTC wildfire in water, I took everything apart, dried it separately and assembled it before powering back on. Still works.

I've soaked about a dozen phones in fresh water and gotten them working again with the rice trick. Saltwater isn't so easy though, rice won't draw it out of the phone, and like I said I took it apart and cleaned corrosion off of the entire board, but apparently I was too late. Oh well.

Turn it off, take it apart and rinse/wash it with distilled, then go about the normal means of drying a toilet dunked phone.

Saltwater is nasty for everything.

It needs to dry completely, 24 hours isn't always long enough though that's about the minimum. Silica gel packets should work better than rice. Hopefully there's a Cabela's or maybe a sporting goods store that sells it. As an example http://www.cabelas.com/gun-safes-hydrosorbent-silica-gel-3.shtml
