GTX 680 lower performance than normal? - Page 2

Yea, I gotta agree. Your gimping your own system with a low quality board and PSU. You might be getting inconsistant voltage from the PSU AND the Mobo. You should certainly consider upgrading that Mobo and PSU in the near future if you wanna continue pushing your components like you want.

Asrock, personally wouldn't touch em.

Running the same board with SLI 580's and my cards perform as expected. My money is on the power supply.

Guess I am asking the wrong forum.....

Seems like people here do not know what they are talking about.

I have monitored voltages and they are fine and the power supply is great especially from reviews which have done in depth testing.

I have used a gtx 570 on it with no problems.

Only conclusion is that the card is at fault.

Only ignorant fanboys look at price and brand logo before actually looking at the individual product.

I'm not sure why you're freaking out over losing 7 FPS over average from a benchmark program. The system that got 7 more FPS possibly had a better CPU, faster RAM, a faster SSD, etc, etc. How does your GTX 680 do in games? Because that's what really matters.

I'm willing to say that if your GTX 680 was actually defective, you'd be seeing a lot less FPS than what you're getting now. If you really think it's defective, RMA it then.

But the people with weaker CPUs get that performance like the video I posted.

And that difference is almost 20%.

Max Payne 3 maxed with 4xmsaa and hbao has fps that is all over the place depending on what chapter I am playing.

Some chapters would run on average around 60fps while others would be running around 45fps and have drops a little below that.

The Witcher 2 maxed with ubersampling would run at around 35 fps in Flotsam but drop to 24 fps when going into the forest.

And this all was at 1920x1080.

Like I said, if you think it's defective, RMA it. There's really nothing we can do here other than suggesting to re-install or try new display drivers.

I found the problem.

It seems that the card is only running on PCI-E x4 and I know my motherboard supports PCI-E x16.

Anyone have an idea as to where to start to fix this?

I tried cleaning out the slot plus the card and reseating it but that did not fix the issue.

im ur bios probably, does it have an option for PCI-E link speed, maybe in north or south bridge options I forget if it's north or south for PCIE link speed.
